Scorpion Deception, by Andrew Kaplan

This is the third in the Scorpion series, following Scorpion Betrayal and Scorpion Winter. They combine intense action with well-orchestrated suspense and political intrigue. In this one, Scorpion, an agent working for the Americans, finds information on himself in the wrong hands after an attack on an American embassy. He is hunted by a deadly terrorist agent and a powerful new figure in the politics of the Middle East, codenamed “The Gardener”, across Europe, north Africa, and the Middle East. The plot is convoluted and tight, held together by loyalties and betrayals that only become clear at the very end. Although reading the earlier books in the series first will add more to your understanding of Scorpion, this story stands on its own quite well.
